WordPress - Creating a Site

This guide is intended to walk you through the process of setting up your very own Wordpress site hosted by TWU.

 

What is Wordpress?

WordPress is a popular, open-source content management system (CMS) that allows you to create and manage websites easily. It's easy to use, and doesn't require any coding knowledge.

 

Getting Started

  1. To start, visit the TWU Wordpress Welcome page: create.twu.ca

    • If you are not signed in to a TWU web service, you will be prompted to sign in with your TWU login credentials.

  1. Click Create a Site.

  2. Fill in the form.

    • Choose a Site Name. The site name can only contain lowercase letters and numbers and cannot be changed later.

    • Choose a Site Title. This can be a short sentence, and can be changed later.form fields for a wordpress site and title

    • Carefully review your privacy settings and choose an option that makes sense for you (This can also be changed later).

  1. Select a template (there are templates specific to different programs), and click the Create Site button.

  2. Congratulations, you've created a wordpress site!
