Town Hall Update

Body

As part of our ongoing commitment to steward our campus space effectively and enhance the student experience, we have made the difficult decision to close Fraser Hall in fall 2025 for the 2025/26 academic year.

We recognize that this change will have implications for our community, and we are dedicated to supporting you through this transition.

We understand that you may have questions about your future on campus. Rest assured, we are committed to providing housing for all students who wish to live on campus. Here are some key changes we are making for fall 2025:

•    DeVries Centre will become an undergraduate economy housing option.
•    We will be increasing our capacity in Douglas and Skidmore Halls.

If you would like to make changes to your housing application or choose one of our new options, check your campus portal. We will do our best to honour all current applications and ensure that your selected roommate is accommodated.

If you missed the Town Hall, feel free to review the presentation attached.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please file a ticket with Housing and we will try our best to answer as soon as we can.

We look forward to continuing to support your academic and personal growth at TWU.

  • Fraser Hall will be closed for Fall 2025.
  • We are not confident it can be brought up to the standard required to host students for the upcoming academic year.
  • Fraser has faced challenges that make it unsuitable for living, and despite our efforts to maintain it, we have decided not to reinvest further funds to make it suitable for the fall semester.

Summer Housing:

  • Summer housing remains unaffected. All residents have been relocated to Jacobson Hall to ensure everyone staying on campus can engage in and access the community. Additionally, a few students will be housed in Skidmore and McMillan.

  • Riley Braun will be the Resident Director (RD), which is sure to create a vibrant atmosphere.
  • Devries will offer an intimate community for all students on campus, with shared rooms and hallways fostering a space dedicated to learning, living, and engaging in community together.
  • Next year Devries offers shared kitchens, updated HVAC (Air conditioning) and other great amenities

No Single Rooms:

  • Our goal is to maximize housing availability for the greatest number of students across campus. This means we cannot offer single rooms, as we aim to ensure everyone has the opportunity to live in our community.

Housing Accommodations:

  • We will strive to accommodate all needs to the best of our ability. Students requiring accommodations should apply by May 15th through the Special Accommodation process on our website. Accommodations can include dietary, accessibility, or other needs.
