APPLY FOR TWU HOUSING

If your Housing Checklist looks similar to the below image, then you are ready to Select a Roommate.

Note that Roommate selection is optional. If you do not want to select a roommate, you don't have to! You can just wait for your Room Selection time and select a Building/Room that suits you best. Note that if you don't select a roommate, it doesn't guarantee that you would get a single room. If you would like a single room, you will need to select a single room when your assigned Room Selection time comes. You will be able to see who your roommate and your building/room is on your Housing Checklist - but Housing will email you as well.

Things to Know BEFORE Selecting a Roommate

Make sure there are no holds on your account. A hold will stop you from accepting or requesting roommates. Your checklist will look like this if you have a hold on your account that you need to resolve:

  1. Find a group of friends that you already know you want to room with. Have one person, a leader, from that group become the one to request everyone else in the group to be the roommate.
  2. Pick roommates that are the same birth sex as you. You won't be able to pick a room otherwise.
  3. You can only pick roommates that are within your same Applicant Group
    • Applicant Group 1: First and Second Years room together
    • Applicant Group 2: Third and Fourth Years room together
    • Applicant Group 3: Grad Students
  4. If you really want a roommate that is in a different applicant group, you can file a ticket with Housing and we will try our best to accommodate your request, but it may not be within an immediate timeframe and there will be the chance that the room you want may be chosen by someone else in the time you are waiting for Housing to make your requested roommate adjustments.
  5. You can only pick a room that fits your group size. Be prepared, if the rooms you want are not available, you may have to decrease your group if you want to fit into a different room of a different size.
    • If your group size is smaller than the room you select, then the remaining rooms will be filled with other students who can choose to select that spot if they want to.
  6. Once you select and confirm your room with your roommate, you can no longer change roommates!

Step 4: Manage Pending Requests

After sending, you’ll see the status under Pending Requests. Options include Resend Email Notification or Cancel Request.

Step 5: Accept or Decline Incoming Requests

If someone requests you as a roommate, you’ll see it under Received Requests. Click Accept or Decline and confirm your choice.

Step 6: View Accepted Roommates

Once accepted, the page will show confirmation and list others who accepted the same request.

Your Housing Checklist will let you know if you have any pending roommate requests.

Note that if you move on to the next step and select a room - any pending roommate requests will be cancelled and will be replaced by Empty Room Slots.

Changing / Cancelling Roommate Requests

If you want to change your roommate, you can only do this if you have not yet selected and confirmed your room. If you have already selected your room and confirmed it, then you will have to wait until move in to make a change request.

If you have not yet confirmed and selected your room, you can change your roommate requests by going to your Housing Checklist, clicking on "Click here to Request Roommates."

Select the session you want to update your roommates on.

From here you can cancel your acceptance, you can decline any requests, you can request new roommates etc.

Once you finish selecting all your roommates, and your room selection time slot is open, you can move on to the next step of selecting your room. View our Building/Room Selection Article for more information
