Overview of On-campus Work

TWU students who are enrolled full-time are eligible to work any number of hours on any campus where their program is based, without needing a work permit. You must meet the below requirements to see if you are eligible. It is important to note that you can only start working in Canada when you start your academic program. You cannot work before your studies begin.

See Work on campus on the IRCC website for more information.

Make sure you are eligible to work on campus

You can work on campus starting on the first day you begin studies at TWU if you meet all of the following requirements:

  • You have a valid study permit, or you have applied to extend your study permit and have maintained status.
  • You are enrolled full-time for immigration purposes during academic terms or are eligible to work during a scheduled break.
  • Your study permit includes conditions allowing you to work on campus such as, “May accept employment on or off campus if meeting eligibility criteria, per paragraph R186(f), (v), or (w) and must cease working if no longer meeting these criteria”.
  • You have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN), or you had a SIN and are on maintained status.
