If you have not yet applied for Housing, please review the Housing Application Process. The website will take you through all of the steps of the Housing Application, from applying, to accepting your offer.
This article will review the process of checking out of your assigned On Campus Housing. You will only need to complete the Check Out process if you have already moved into your room. If you have not moved into your room, please review our Housing Withdrawal and Refunds Article.
When Do I Check Out?
You need to check out of your room if you are leaving your room either permanently or at the end of the semester.
For Fall and Spring Semesters, your Check Out Date is 24 hours after your last exam.
If you are in Summer Housing, you will receive an email with both your check in and your check out dates as they vary over the Summer.
Please review our Semester Transition Eligibility and Process article to see if you are eligible to apply to stay for the Semester Transition,
The Check Out Process
If you are checking out of the room, please make sure the following steps have been completed:
- Complete the Housing Withdrawal Form (Only if you are leaving in the middle of the semester)
- Notify Your RD of your check out date
- Complete the Check out Checklist
- File any maintenance tickets using Asset Essentials
- Have your checklist signed by your Residence Life Leader
- Return your Keys to the Student Life Office or at the After Hours Drop Box outside of Student Life (If applicable)
Check Out Checklists
Checking out of your room requires all students to complete the Check out Check List. The Checklists vary depending on what type of room you are in (Apartment / Dorm etc.). These checklists will be posted on your door. Failure to complete this list properly could result in a fine.

Semester Transition Cleaning Checklist
Use this checklist only if you have been APPROVED to stay in the same room for the Semester Transition and will be staying in your same room over the next couple of weeks while Custodians need to clean the rooms.

Please review our Semester Transition Eligibility and Process article to see if you are eligible to apply to stay for the Semester Transition.
Note that throughout the semester we expect you to keep your room clean and safe. If you do find anything broken or unsafe, please file a ticket either with Housing (if the item requires a full replacement) or with Facilities Services (if the item is able to be fixed). If you are unsure where you should file a ticket - you can file a ticket with the Service Hub and they will direct your ticket to the proper avenue. Other things to note:
- Please keep common areas clean during the transition. This includes not leaving luggage, personal items, or other belongings in the hallways, as it will create obstructions and makes it difficult to move or clean around. It also creates a fire hazard in the event of an emergency.
- In addition to reporting broken items, please inform us about areas that need additional cleaning, such as stained floors or dirty surfaces. This would give us more time to schedule the cleaning of those areas in advance and avoid overloading the custodial team during the transition.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this process, please file a ticket with Housing
