Understanding the Student Code of Conduct
Trinity Western University (TWU) is a global Christian university that focuses on developing individuals who are highly competent and possess exemplary character. The University aims to foster a community where students, faculty, and staff come together to pursue truth and excellence with grace and diligence. They are expected to treat people and ideas with charity and respect, think critically about complex issues, and actively respond to the world's significant needs and opportunities based on God's revelation in Christ.
When accepting an invitation to study at TWU, students agree to abide by the Student Code of Conduct (SCC), which reflects our commitment to respectful and purposeful unity. This includes honoring TWU’s unique Christian mission, values, and vision, which distinguishes it from public universities.
The SCC promotes a respectful community based on Christian values, believing that this will optimize the learning environment and maximize the University’s capacity to fulfill its mission. While not all students may personally affirm TWU’s theological views, all are expected to respect evangelical Christian beliefs and practices, including the authority of the Bible.
The goal of the student conduct process is to contribute to both the student’s personal development and spiritual growth. Student Conduct Officers (SCOs) help students understand the University’s vision and how to live it out in community through reconciliation, forgiveness, and accountability.
If your student believes there has been a violation of the Student Code of Conduct, we encourage them to report it early through the official reporting system. This ensures they receive the support they need and that the situation is addressed appropriately.
