Supporting Student Mental Health
Mental health challenges are a normal part of the university experience. Many students face anxiety, depression, stress, or other emotional struggles during their time at TWU. We want to emphasize that these experiences are not something to be ashamed of—and no student should have to struggle alone.
TWU is committed to supporting students wherever they are in their journey. We offer a wide range of resources to help students feel equipped and cared for:
If you are concerned about your student’s mental health, encourage them to reach out for help. You may also contact the Director of Residence Life at TWU. While privacy laws limit the information we can share, we take every concern seriously and will follow up appropriately to ensure your student is supported.
The Learning Commons is TWU’s academic hub outside the classroom, designed to support students in every stage of their academic journey—whether they’re studying in Langley, Richmond, Ottawa, or online. It partners closely with the Library to provide a wide range of in-person and virtual services that help students thrive academically and personally.
It’s not uncommon for students to struggle academically at some point during their university experience. Whether it’s adjusting to the demands of university-level coursework, managing time effectively, or facing unexpected challenges, TWU is prepared to support students through it. We don’t expect students to have everything figured out—we expect them to grow. The Learning Commons is a key part of that growth journey, offering both encouragement and practical tools to help students get back on track.
Whether your student has a quick question about course registration, needs help with an assignment, or is facing a more serious academic or personal challenge, the Learning Commons is a place where they can find support, guidance, and a sense of belonging.
