STEP 1: Apply for Housing

The first step to apply for housing is going to your Campus Portal: https://portal.twu.ca/ics and clicking on "Housing." When you do this, you should see  your Housing Checklist.

Make sure you are looking at the right checklist! If you are applying for SUMMER - pick the SUMMER Housing Checklist! You can have 2 different checklists appearing if you are applying for both Summer and Fall.

The Housing Checklist will guide you through all the steps of applying through to moving onto campus.

Before you apply for Housing at TWU, you want to make sure that you are eligible for Housing. If you are not Eligible, you won't be able to see or click the link to Apply.

If you are unable to click on the link, and you are an admitted student at TWU, you can file a ticket with the Service Hub and we will look into your issue. Make sure you are NOT using TWUStaff Wifi to apply. You can use TWU Guest or regular TWU wifi. TWUStaff Wifi will not work and you will run into issues with payment.

When you click on "Apply" you will be led to the Housing Application Form similar to below:

Complete all of the tabs at the top:

  1. About Me
  2. My Preferences
  3. Residential Agreement and Student Code of Conduct
  4. Application Fee and Finish

*Note that if you don't complete ALL the steps in the application form, your application won't be received correctly. You will need to successfully complete ALL steps of the application.

Once you get to the Application Fee - click on "Submit" or "Proceed to Payment"

This will lead you to the payment page:

The Housing Application fee is $100 and it is a fee for processing the application. It does not act as a deposit or a prepayment towards your housing charges.

Once you submit your payment, if it goes through successfully, you will see the following receipt.

If your payment is declined, or gives you an error:

  1. Please double check that the address matches the one that is associated with your credit card.
  2. Note that our system will not accept Debit Cards, even if it is a Visa Debit or a Mastercard Debit. Only Credit Cards will be accepted.
  3. Make sure you are not using TWUStaff Wifi

Click on the link at the bottom "Return to EX Form-Flow Forms" to receive your confirmation.

Your confirmation will look like this:

Once you see this, you know we have successfully received your Housing Application. You can also double check in your Housing Checklist to see if we have received your Housing Application, but also view what the next steps are, and the dates that you will be able to proceed.

The next step in the Housing Application - once the date opens - is Roommate Selection - If roommate selection is not yet open, a date will appear on when it will open.

Why is there a Housing Application Fee?

The Housing Application Fee covers the administrative cost of processing your application. This includes reviewing eligibility, managing room and roommate selection, and preparing placements for thousands of students each year.

This fee is not a deposit and does not guarantee a housing placement. It allows you to enter the housing application process and be considered for housing.

Because this work begins as soon as an application is submitted, the fee is non‑refundable, even if you later decide not to live on campus or are not placed in housing.
