If you feel that you have an illness preventing you from eating in the cafeteria for the school semester, and would like to provide a doctor's note, please know that we are following the Documentation Requirements indicated on the Centre for Accessible Learning website: https://www.twu.ca/academics/library/learning-commons/centre-accessible-learning/documentation-requirements
Doctor's notes specifically referring to the Meal Plan must:
- Include test or assessment results that were used to inform the diagnosis. (if applicable)
- Indicate the length of time the student has been under the care of the practitioner.
- Include the registered health care provider’s credentials, signature, and clinic contact information.
The following professionals can diagnose and provide medical documentation for disabilities as recognized by the BC Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills:
- Learning disability: a registered clinical psychologist or certified school psychologist
- Physical or mobility disability: a physician
- Visual impairment: an ophthalmologist, optometrist or orthoptist
- Hard of hearing or deaf: a certified audiologist
- Neurological disability: a neurologist, neuropsychologist, psychiatrist or physician

If you want to provide a doctor's note that meets all of these requirements, then we can look into having you exempt from the meal plan.
